The Peel Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG) was brought together to provide support resources and a welcoming, safe space for Peel District School Board members of staff who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Over the years this group has been running, we have provided opportunities for social gatherings, professional development, support services, and communication channels for our members.
As the needs of our members have changed over the years, we have shifted between regular member meetings and social events, and have made valuable contributions to the 2SLGBTQIA+ landscape of the Peel Board. Our group has...
Provided consultation to PDSB leadership on Peel's 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan
Provided support and volunteers to the annual You Are Not Alone conference
Provided professional development support at Board and Union levels for staff and allies
Connected members in need of support and advocacy with PDSB leadership staff and resources
Most importantly, provided a safe, confidential, and welcoming space for members to be themselves!
How clever and beautiful of you to notice, dear reader! We offer a variety of social gatherings and get-togethers through the year. While some of them require members to pay their way, we try to include several that come with no cost to our members. Some of these have included...
Axe throwing
Escape rooms
Evenings at board game cafés
Cozy movie afternoons
Regular virtual/online game nights
...and several more! Members are always welcome to share their ideas for socials and get-togethers.
Because we are an affinity organization representing a marginalized group, full membership is available only to those who self-identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. However, we also have an Ally/Supporter list which remains up-to-date with important news items and highlights, and whose members are welcome to attend any meetings and gatherings during the year that are ally-friendly.
If you would like to join, please find the link at the top of the page to our Mailing List!
We know very well that privacy and confidentiality are extremely important to the safety and wellbeing of our membership. In particular, we understand that members who are not out or public with their identities may have concerns about the privacy of their information.
Here is what you need to know:
Membership lists are kept private and are not shared with anyone.
While members need to acknowledge that they are 2SLGBTQIA+ to join, we do not ask for specific details of your identity.
We collect non-board email addresses to keep member communication secure.
We do not publish event or meeting details publicly.
